Sangria
Sangria
š· Itās Wine Time!! š·
For centuries, mankind has worshipped the Sangria not as a deity but as the forbearer of the cocktail or mixed drink industry. The Sangria can trace its roots back to the origins of wine itself. Imbibers would take fruit, citrus, and local spices and combine them with local wine to make it more palatable and delicious. The modern Sangria began to take shape in the Middle Ages, originating in the Kingdom of LeĆ³n, in present-day Spain.
As the decades ticked by and Spanish culture began to move around the world, the Sangria, as a beverage, found itself in a unique position, one that preserves culture and passes on tradition. As the Sangria spread, new variations began to emerge, those from the Caribbean utilizing exciting new spices and regional fruit to tropical sangrias and even those using sparkling beverages and brandy. The Sangria was officially introduced to the United States by way of the Spain pavilion at the 1964 Worldās Fair in New York.
No matter how you mix it, the Sangria will remain evergreen and is truly the ālifebloodā of the beverage world! P.S. If you didnāt know, the name Sangria is based on the Spanish word āsangre,ā meaning blood. See what we did there?ā¦Cheers!
